WELCOME BACK TO 5 DAYS OF IN-PERSON INSTRUCTION!!!!
CONSISTENCY OF INSTRUCTION IS IMPORTANT:
- Students will be expected to attend EVERY DAY, and to not flip between in-person instruction and synchronous instruction.
- The only exception would be for in-person students who are ill or who should stay home due to quarantine.
Monday, March 1st begins our five day per week in-person learning! One important change is that students will no longer eat lunch in school. Instead, we will be taking a 15 minute break in the IMC which has been set up for a safe, socially distanced snack. The school district will be providing a “grab-and-go lunch” to students at the end of the day. PLEASE REMEMBER TO PROVIDE YOUR CHILD WITH A HEALTHY SNACK EACH DAY. Thank you!
GRAB-and-GO LUNCHES AT DISMISSAL: At the end of each school day, students will pick up a grab and go bag, which will contain lunch for that day as well as a breakfast for the following morning.
Students MAY NOT eat their grab-and-go lunch on the bus.
****FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH REMINDER****

Daily COVID Screening Form for Parents - And District Safety Protocols
In order to maintain a safe environment for all students and staff, the Jackson School District will be requiring all parents to complete a daily COVID Health Screening Form every day that a student will be attending school in person. This form will be filled out each morning by the parent on the Parent Portal.

Please come to class prepared with a pencil and eraser. Some suggested materials are as follows: a 2 pocket folder (1 to bring home important papers, homework dittos, graded assignments, and any information necessary to be sent home) and (1 for writer's workshop), a zippered soft pencil case (that will fit in the desk), a highlighter, pen, post-its, (2) 1 gallon ziplock bagS-ONE WHICH WILL HOLD YOUR MATERIALS AND ONE WHICH WILL HOLD ANY NOVELS YOU'RE READING, and 2 books. If you're unable to gather these materials please let me know and I will be happy to assist.**** Parent/Guardians please check their folder and planner every night and send it back with them for the next in-person learning day. The students are required to write their homework in their planner everyday. I will not be checking the planners daily unless your child has a note written in it, in which they should show me first thing in the morning. This will help to foster independence for middle school.
**Your child's planner or contact via email (email@example.com) can also be used as a way to reach me and make sure we are doing our very best to work as a team to help your child reach their fullest potential. However, please be respectful in allowing me ample time to respond. Instructional time does not allow for response to emails.
This is also important with regard to dismissal, if there is a change to your child's dismissal plan please be sure to send in a note or call the main office (732-833-4650) as I could be absent, or I may not get to see the email until the end of the day.**
Extended Learning/Homework: Please show your child that their extended learning/homework is extremely important. Make it a priority; provide necessary supplies and a quiet work environment. It is a valuable aid in helping students to reinforce what is learned in the classroom and make the most of their learning experience. Set aside a daily time and provide praise and support. If I can offer any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.*PLEASE MAKE THE SCHOOL AWARE OF ANY ALLERGIES YOUR CHILD MAY HAVE*
** If you have a nut allergy you must bring in a note from a parent on the first day of school stating you do not have to sit at the nut free lunch table.**
Please label everything that comes in, including water bottles. And don't forget sweatshirts/jackets as the weather will start to get cooler! This can be as easy as pinning a ribbon or piece of fabric inside the clothing, so you DO NOT have to write on it.
- In the backpack, it is also encouraged to have an extra mask incase the 1st one gets misplaced or dirty. Please be sure that the clean masks are in a labeled bag or container. Dirty masks will just be put in their backpack so you know the difference. Please remember that it is mandatory that the children wear masks all day.
- Our room gets chilly so I recommend the students bring a sweatshirt to keep in their backpack, especially at the start of the year when it is much warmer outside than in our classroom!
- I will be meeting the "at home" group in the afternoon each day around 2:20. More information on this will be shared shortly.
- Please send in a note if there will be a change in dismissal for your child. All dismissal notes are sent down to the office in the morning. It is IMPORTANT that you date these notes, include your child's full name, and my name.
BE A BUCKET FILLER, NOT A BUCKET DIPPER!!!! Have you been a bucket filler today? You can be a bucket filler in many different ways... By trying your best in school, giving respect to all your peers and adults, helping someone in need, and treating others the way you want to be treated.
