    Today's assignment: Value Project. You should have an outline complete (from Wednesday) and now you can begin to add value. Take your time to create form and contrast. The expectation for today is that you complete about 25% of the shading/value. Remember that this is a project that we will be working on for several days. The rubric emphasizes value techniques and neatness.

    The assignment for today is to begin working on your Value Project. Try to work on 8x10 paper or larger. The expectation for today is to create an outline of your drawing. Take your time to make sure the drawing is neat and accurate.

     

    Tuesday, May 12th

    Introduction to final Value Project: Read over the rubric and project sheet that contains a choice board with 9 different options! Think about those choices and select one of the nine options from the Value Drawings Choice Board. Post a comment in the Assignment: Choice Board Selection with the option you have selected. If you will be working from a photo, please also submit the photo you will be using for reference/inspiration for this project. (For example, comment #3 Celebrity Portrait in Ink and attach a photograph of Michael Jordan.)

    Google Classroom assignment: Ink Animal. Choose ONE of the posted photos as a reference. Start with a simple outline in pencil. Then, begin to add value using pen and ink techniques with a thin sharpie or pen: hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, and random marks. You can choose one technique or a combination of them. The goal is to match the values in the photo to the values in your drawing.

    When you complete the drawing, post a photo to assignment: Ink Animal.

    Google Classroom assignment: Value Forms. Using the posted photo as a reference, create a drawing using pencil. Start with a simple outline of the forms. Then, pay close attention to the different values on each form and on the table. Begin to add value and shade neatly to build up each 3D object. The goal is to match the values in the photo to the values in your drawing. When the drawing is complete, post a photo to assignment: Value Forms.

    1. Add color to your continuous contour line drawing using your choice of materials. Think about the elements (Value, texture, shape etc) and the principles (pattern, emphasis, variety) as you add color.

    1. Create an outline for your final composition. Focus on creating an interesting layout that fills the negative space. All drawings in the composition should be CONTINUOUS Contour line drawings.
