Computer literacy tech/STEM is located in Room 226 STEM Lab! All students will be using Chrome books to work, therefore, all work will be Internet-based and easy to access from home as well. Students in grades K will spend time in computer literacy tech/STEM becoming familiar with the keyboard by using a variety of applications on the Internet, as well as working on cross-curricular assignments. Students in grade 1 will spend their time in computer literacy tech/STEM learning and reviewing letter recognition on the Chrome book keyboard, as well as become fluent in logging into the Google Classroom and learn Google Docs. Students in Grades 2 through 5 will spend their time in computer literacy tech/STEM learning and reviewing word-processing, spreadsheets, and presentations, as well as become proficient in logging into the Google Classroom. During the 2019-2020 school year, students in grades 3 through 12 will take standardized assessments online. This requires a knowledge of keyboarding and word-processing skills, as well as practice taking the assessment. Students will have the opportunity to incorporate real-world situations into the lessons, as well as focus on Internet Safety, Digital Citizenship and Digital Footprints.Throughout the school year, students in grades 1-5 will be learning the Google G-Suite on Chrome books and use Google Classroom to find all assignments, add assignments and turn in assignments during Computer Literacy Tech/STEM. The students in grades 3-5 will also learn and understand how to manipulate, communicate and create e-mails using G-mail for students. The Jackson School district Google accounts for students in grades 1-5 are for use within the school district; students may only communicate with other individuals who are in the school district and have a district Google account. The students in grades 2-5 will be learning and review Google for Education Sheets, Slides, Forms and Drive as well.The K-5 students will have the privilege of creating, collaborating, communicating and developing critical thinking skills during Computer Literacy Tech, in the STEM Lab. The students will work on Coding, Robotics with Dash & Dot and Sphero SPRK+ and Bolt, Circuitry and construction with LEGO WeDo 2.0, Cubelets and Little Bits, Engineering using LEGO bricks and Keva planks and Video recording on a green screen, during the school year. Throughout their time in Computer Literacy Tech/STEM at Elms, the students will continually add upon what was previously learned until the students are fully prepared for middle school when they are promoted.Feel free to contact me with any concerns or problems - firstname.lastname@example.org

Keyboarding Homework Help:Very Important Keyboarding Skills Practice for Grades 1 - 5!!All students in Grades 1-5 are practicing keyboarding skills. The 1st - 5th grade students will start their first Marking Period with a Pre Assessment for Keyboarding Skills.
Keyboarding skills are a must. Keyboarding is a Life Skill! Improving Keyboarding Skills will help the students move through assessments quicker and help them with future projects and reports for educational assignments.

Students in grades K-5 are encouraged to go to www.code.org and practice computer programming during the school year in Code.org. Please Do NOT log in during the school year before we start our Coding Unit (Nov.-Jan.). Simply go to students at the bottom of the page and choose an activity. Remember, if you are not logging in, it will not save the activity that you do. Once we complete our Coding Unit, then you will be able to log in to your work and your progress will be saved.
