- Switlik Elementary School
Dear Switlik Families,
Spring has finally sprung! The days are longer, the flowers are beginning to bloom, the grass is growing and the warmer weather is arriving. With warm weather upon us, for some, that means allergies. Please make sure our nurse, Mrs. Kossmann, knows of any allergies your child may suffer from. We also keep an eye on asthma concerns since the children will spend more time outdoors running and playing hard. Please be mindful of the district’s dress code policy and items that are not permitted (flip flops, tank tops, etc.) to ensure safety and compliance. Please refer to the Switlik Handbook for any additional information.
Second Grade Students visit the OCC Planetarium – The Second Grade classes were fortunate to be able to take a class trip to the Robert Novins Planetarium. Our students had a wonderful time learning about our solar system. They learned all about the planets including special characteristics of each as well and their order from the sun. Our students learned how important the sun is, as it is our source of light and heat. Seeing how other stars form patterns called constellations was exciting. They also learned how the Earth spins causing day and night and has a moon that takes almost a month to orbit around. The second grade truly enjoyed this special trip! Thank you to our extremely generous PTN!
Kindergarten Visits Jenkinson’s Aquarium: The consensus from all the kindergarten teachers who attended the Jenkinson's Aquarium seems to be a very positive one. Not only did everyone have a good time, also observed the students being actively engaged especially during the times the tour guides allowed interaction with the sea creatures. There were many priceless moments as we observed the kids' expressions and excitement throughout the day. Topping it all off was hearing them exclaim, “This is the best day ever!” Thank you again to our wonderful Switlik PTN for this great field trip and to all the parents who support the PTN fundraising events!
