September 2022

Dear Switlik Families,

We hope everyone is having a safe and relaxing summer! The new assistant principal, Mr. Saulnier, and myself are excited to get the 22/23 school year off to a great start. We are looking forward to immersing ourselves in the wonderful culture of learning that is established at Switlik. We have already had the opportunity to meet some fantastic staff, parents and students. Please read below for important reminders and information to start the school year off right and if you have any questions please call our main office.

Pre-K and Kindergarten and new student orientation will be held on Aug. 30th Kindergarten will be at 10:00 AM, Pre- K will be at 11:15AM and new students will be at 1:00PM. Each session will last approximately an hour. We look forward to seeing you!

Elementary teacher assignments will be available on the parent portal after 9am on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Bus passes will be available on the parent portal after 9am on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Assist your child in learning their bus number (route number) and have them bring their bus pass to school for the first few weeks. If you are unable to print your bus pass at home, you can go to the administration building at 151 Don Connor Blvd on Thursday, September 1st from 9am to 4pm.

Continue to monitor the parent portal for important information. If your portal login is not working please click on ,”Forgot my password” link before contacting support. With continued issues send an email to portalsupport@jacksonsd.org

Immunizations- State law requires students to have certain immunizations depending on grade level. Please see the links below explaining this requirement and a form you can bring with you to your doctor. The school must receive proof of your child’s updated immunization record by Oct. 14, 2022 or your child will not be allowed to attend school after that date.

Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures- As we continue to slowly move past the Pandemic, we are excited to return to more traditional methods of drop-off and pickup.

Drop-off:

  • Drop-off in the outer lane of the loop by the gym.

  • Unless enrolled in childcare, no student is to be dropped off prior to 8:50, as no staff will be on duty.

  • If your child needs assistance exiting the car, please find a designated parking space and walk them to the entrance. No parent is to exit the car in the loop, as this slows the drop-off line.

  • Students arriving after 9:05 are required to be signed by a parent.

Pick-Up

  • If you must pick-up your child early, please make every effort to do so by 2:45 so as to not hinder the dismissal process.

  • Dismissal begins at 3:05 for Kindergarten students; 3:10 for Grades 1&2; 3:15 for Grades 3-5.

  • All parents picking up their child(ren) will need to park in a designated spot and walk to the gym entrance with a photo ID to sign out.

  • Students will be escorted from the gym to the entrance to unite with parents. With safety in mind, parents are to remain outside while students are retrieved.

Chromebooks- All returning students should have their chromebooks from last year. Please take the time to charge your chromebook and make sure it is in working order. If you are moving and leaving the district, please return your chromebook to Switlik Monday-Thursday 8am to 2pm.

Food Services- Pursuant to USDA guidelines, the Jackson School District will no longer be offering free lunch to all students in the district; however, free breakfast will still be provided to students. Please complete and return the Free and Reduced Lunch forms if applicable. Please click this link to the Jackson Food Service Department or http://www.payschoolscentral.com/ to fill out the free and reduced lunch application and to set up an account to purchase items from the cafeteria. If you do not have an application on file from last year you will be charged for lunch starting the first day of school.
