Welcome to October ….   Fall is such a wonderful time of year! Leaves are turning vibrate colors. Harvests are being gathered. The weather is getting cooler, but it is still fun to play outdoors.   October and November promise to be busy months at the Switlik School.

The following are a few highlights from the calendar for October and November:  Please be sure to reference the PTN Webpage for additional information.

The Book Fair has arrived!  The Fall Book Fair is scheduled for October 17th-21st.  Our Family Night is Thursday, October 20th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Gym Foyer.

 Say CHEESE!  Students in grades K-5 will have their school pictures taken on October 24th.

Fall Harvest Day  will be celebrated on Monday, October 31st.    In keeping with the spirit of fun, children may dress in costumes for the day.  Children who choose to participate should come to school dressed in their costumes and be prepared to remain in their costumes all day.  Please keep in mind that costumes should be comfortable, allow for children to move freely, and should NOT depict any sort of violence.  Masks may not be worn by children or adults visiting the building during the school day, and no fake weapons of any kind will be allowed.  Please plan to apply make-up at home.  Costumes must be school dress code appropriate. Your child’s teacher will be providing additional information on their class pages about classroom times and events. Kindergarten students will have a parade and songs in the gym.  The parade will be followed by a party in your child’s classroom:

The Wizards are Coming on November – Come join us for an evening of tricks, hoops, and alley –oops.!  Don’t miss this fun-filled, high flying and interactive community event featuring the world famous Harlem Wizards Basketball Team as they take on the Switlik Panther All Stars, a team of teachers and principals from our Switlik School.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m., the event runs from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Jackson Memorial High School.  Order your tickets now!  Visit www.harlemwizards.com and click “buy tickets,” or fill out the ticket order form found on the PTN Website. Tickets are limited.

 Lost & Found  All items in our Lost & Found will be displayed on the stage the week of October 24th-28th during lunch periods for students to claim any items that may belong to them.

Parent /Teacher Conferences will be held during the week of November 14-17.  The Portal will be open to parents/guardians on Wednesday, October 12th for parent/guardians to schedule conferences through the Portal.

 As a reminder school will be closed November 7-11th and November 24-25th.  Enjoy a happy and safe fall season with family and friends.
