DONNA MAHER
INDUCTION CLASS OF 2008
CHEERLEADING COACH
In 1983 Donna Maher was named Head Cheerleading Coach. She promptly transformed a small girl’s squad into a nationally recognized co-ed competition program.
During her tenure the team won County and Regional titles14 times and were State Champions 11 times. The team attended national competitions in Tennessee, California and Florida. They were ranked in the top ten nationally for 15 years, highlighted by a national title in 1988. In 1993 the team was selected to compete in Tokyo as a token of “good will”.
In 1997 Donna was the National Federation’s of HS Regional Coach of The Year. She was the Co-founder and President of the NJ Cheerleading Coaches Association and Competition Director.
Donna was listed in the American Cheerleader Magazine of Who’s Who among Cheerleading Coaches in the US. She is a certified judge, having judged on the local, regional, state and national levels.
Coach Maher is currently the NJ State Educational Director of the National Federation of High School Spirit Groups.
