In 1969 Mike Costa began his 29 year coaching career on the wrestling staff at Jackson.  In 1978 he was appointed the head boys varsity soccer coach.  In 14 years his boys teams compiled a record 197 wins, 69 loses, 23 ties, 8 Division, 6 Shore Conference Tournament, & 6 South Jersey Group Championships. 

    His team received the Shore Conference Referees Sportsmanship Award in 1987 and 1989.  In November of 1990 his team captured the NJSIAA Group IV State Championship, ending the season ranked #1 in NJ public schools and #8 nationally.

    From 1983-1998 Mike was the head varsity girls soccer coach compiling 194 wins, 83 losses, and 25 ties.  Their honors included 4 Conference Division Championships, and undefeated seasons in 1992 and 1997.

    Mike was named Shore Conference Coach of the Year in 1979, 1987, and 1989.  He received a national high school coaching award, and Central Jersey Coach of the Year award in 1989.
