Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am excited about beginning a new year with each of your children! Read 180 is a high-interest, student-centered reading program that customizes instructional software to each student's individual academic skill level. Using interactive technology and a rotational model, students are taught critical reading and vocabulary skills that align with the Common Core Standards. Read 180 features topic software segments, paperbacks for the classroom library, a writing zone for topic software and eReads for online reading and testing practice.

All of our supplies are stored in the classroom. Kids are expected to bring their independent reading novels and something to write with to class each day. It is VERY IMPORTANT that the students are able to use self-control due to the nature of our class. They work independently during the reading and topic software rotations, so they must use good self-management skills to stay on task and focused. This is a skill set that we will continually work on throughout the year. Having conversations at home with your child about this would be very helpful! 

My goal for this year is to grow your child's reading ability, while building up their self-esteem and self-confidence as a learner.
