    Students are expected to adhere to all state, school, district, and class rules.

    • Be respectful.  Do not talk during instruction & work time. Wait until it is your turn to speak. Do not touch other students, their computers, nor their property. 

    • Any student who misuses school property will forfeit the privilege to use school-issued items.

    • Food, drinks and gum are not permitted in the computer lab. No exceptions.

    • Backpacks must be in lockers, as per school rule.

    • Students must arrive to class on time. 

    • Students are responsible for checking Google Classroom every school day for announcements, assignments, directions & due dates.

    • Assignments are to be completed and turned in during class.  If work is not completed during class, it must be completed for homework and turned in that day. Sixth Grade Tech graded keyboarding assignments are to be completed and turned in during class only.

    • Sixth Grade Students Only - Keyboarding practice is a daily assignment.  Keyboarding grades are comprised of speed, accuracy, and correct finger placement.  In order to earn full credit for keyboarding assignments, students must demonstrate the skills taught in class.  In addition to our daily in-class activities, students are instructed to practice their keyboarding skills for homework.

    • Students who miss class for any reason are responsible for checking Google Classroom posts and completing work by the due date.

    • Work is to be submitted on time, according to assignment requirements, and to the best of the student’s ability. Five points are deducted from the grade for each day an assignment is late, up to one week.  After one week, assignments will be locked, will no longer be accepted, and will not be graded. The grade for any assignment that is not turned in within one week of the due date will remain a zero.

    • Only original submissions of work will be graded.  Assignments may not be resubmitted for a grade change.

    • All work must be an original creation of the student. Students may not copy and/or plagiarize any work from a fellow student, the internet, nor any other source. Any evidence of cheating, copied or plagiarized content, AI, or submission of any material which is not an original creation by the student will result in a grade of zero for the entire assignment.

    • No credit will be given for information obtained via Google answers, AI, and Wikipedia.

    • All responses must be school appropriate. Any submissions using violent, explicit or offensive language or images will not be accepted and will receive a zero.

    • During class, students will have specific tasks to accomplish.  If all work is completed and turned in, students may work on another assignment, read, or participate in one of the posted approved free time activities.  Students are not to engage in activities which do not appear on the approved activity list.

    • Preparation and participation count toward the class grade. Students are expected to be prepared for class, stay on task, and put forth their best effort all period each day to earn these points.  Class disruptions will result in loss of participation points and disciplinary action.

    • Cell phone use is not permitted. If a cell phone is used in class, it will be placed on the teacher's desk until the end of the period, and participation points will be deducted from the student’s grade. Repeated in class cell phone use will result in referral to the assistant principal and guardian contact.

    • Students must have permission to leave the classroom, and may not leave the class multiple times a week, unless special permission is arranged.  Students who leave to use the restroom must go to the one which is closest to the classroom, and must sign in and out.

    • Students are reminded to check their grades in Genesis regularly.  Missing work must be turned in within one week of the due date for partial credit, or the grade will be a zero.    

    • The grade earned in this class is used to calculate honor roll eligibility.

    Students will be advised of any changes to rules and policies.
